Candle Care

Millie & Que candles are made from natural soy wax and we use lead free, cotton wicks. They are free from animal testing and we blend them with the finest fragrances made to send sweet, warming scents throughout your home.

In order to get the most out of your Millie & Que candle, follow these candle care tips below.

The First Burn

Let your candle create a ‘memory burn’ the first time you light it by allowing the wax to melt all the way to the edge of the container. This will prevent your candle from tunneling and allow for the best burn every time.

Relighting

As we use 100% cotton wicks that are free from lead, they can be pron to mushrooming at the tip of the wick. To maintain a clean burn every time, ensure you always trim your wick to 5mm prior to each burn and for the best results, burn the candle for a maximum of 3-4 hours at a time.

Draught Free Burning

Candles burnt in a draughty environment can cause blackened edges on your candle vessel due to smoking. To avoid blackened vessels, keep your candle in a draught free environment. If this can not be avoided, remember to turn your candle frequently in order to stop tunneling from happening and to help prevent blackened edges.

Don’t leave burning candles unattended.

Storing your Candle

Soy wax is a very soft wax and can be vulnerable to environmental elements. When not in use, keep your soy candle in a cool, dry, dust free place in order to prevent discoloration, cracking and melting.

Reusing your Jar

To reuse your jar, carefully pour boiling water into the vessel and allow for the left over wax to melt. Let the water cool and strain the water to remove the cooled wax and dispose of it before pouring the cooled water down the drain. Do not pour water with wax in it down the drain as it will harden and block it. Clean your jar with soapy water.
